On the eve of the beginning of the US tariff, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) said he will double the bet against US President Donald Trump. In a speech in Minas Gerais on Thursday, 24, Lula said that if Trump is “tricing”, he will take a “six”. The petista referred to the traditional Brazilian game, where one opponent challenges the other according to the value of his letters.
“I’m not a miner, but I’m good at Truco. If he’s tricking, he’ll take a ‘six’,” Lula said.
The president also said that “no one will put a hand in Brazil.” Citing the deadline for the start of the tariff, which will start on August 1, the president said that Brazil wants to discuss the measure and has the best “negotiators in the world”. The petista, however, stated that Trump does not want dialogue.
“We want to negotiate, we have the best negotiators in the world. If I want to sit at a table to negotiate, we are sitting. Especially because my life went to negotiate, I would strike and negotiate. The business relationship is the same,” said the president.
Lula also said he likes to dialogue with foreign leaders, but especially “wants to talk.” The president said he was willing to deal with the tariff, but will only accept disaffection for his mother. “If the United States wants to negotiate, Lulinha will be ready to negotiate. But disabled only from Dona Lindu, and she would not make a disallowance because I was the little guy and she was too much,” said the petista.
This Thursday, Lula announced interministerial deliveries in the areas of education, racial equality, human rights and indigenous peoples. The ceremony took place in the municipality of Minas Novas (MG), in the Jequitinhonha Valley.
