Leaders could meet at China’s victory over Japan. However, Russia does not make any preparations.
Russia does not exclude a possible meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with US counterparts Donald Trump, which could take place in September in China on the occasion of the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the war with Japan in World War II. This was announced on Monday by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, writes TASR according to AFP report.
“If the US President finally decides to visit China during these days, then, of course, such a meeting cannot theoretically be excluded,” Peskov said.
However, according to the Russian news agency TASS, the Kremlin does not make any specific preparations for the meeting of Putin and Trump. “No concrete measures are being prepared for such a meeting because there is no mutual meeting on the meeting,” the spokesman said.
Several leaders will participate in the celebration
Putin has confirmed his participation in the mentioned celebrations and, according to China’s officials, other world leaders will be attended.
The White House chief said last week that Chinese President Si Jin-Pching invited him to visit China. Trump also said that he would probably meet Chinese counterparts in the near future. However, it is not clear whether Trump will participate in the celebrations.
According to AFP, Chinese military troops will pass through the Beijing Square of the Heavenly Peace (Tchien-An-Men) with modern weapons and will also fly military aircraft over this square, the Chinese leaders announced in June. China commemorates the end of World War II in September, when the Japanese forces officially capitulated. The Chinese President was also a guest in Moscow on 9 May, when he attended celebrations there on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.
