The São Paulo prosecutor, the city of São Paulo and six relatives of signed a non-civil persecution agreement on Tuesday (29). The parties agreed with the termination of lawsuits for administrative misconduct. In contrast, there will be the payment of an indemnity of R $ 210 million to the coffers of the state capital.

The agreement was signed with four children, a former Nora and a former genro of the former governor of Sao Paulo and former mayor of the capital. Also participating in the term were an offshore of Uruguay and a Brazilian bank that acquired actions from Eucatex, a company linked to the Maluf family.

The indemnity will be paid to the Municipal Treasury of the state capital, but the appeals will not have specific destination, said the Attorney General’s Office (PGM). PGM represented the state capital in the agreement.

The term signed on Tuesday does not close investigations and lawsuits against Paulo Maluf himself, his wife and other companies accused of overpricing and bribery payment.

For lawyer Eduardo Diamantino, who represented Maluf’s relatives in the negotiations, “the agreement represents a legal solution to processes that have been dragging on for years.” The outcome shows the collaborative posture of the family, which ends a judicial controversy without being subject to the uncertainties inherent in the process, the defender added.

Paulo Maluf was sentenced to seven years and nine months in prison by the Federal Supreme Court () for money laundering. Upon being convicted, the former governor had a humanitarian house arrest granted by Minister Dias Toffoli.
