Presidents said on social networks that next step will be a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin
The presidents of the United States (Republican Party), and Ukraine, (servant of the people, center), will meet next Monday (18.2025) at the Oval Hall in Washington. The meeting will be the 1st among the 2 since the beginning of the new cycle of negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
The American confirmed the invitation on the social network Truth Social, while the Ukrainian said in the X (former Twitter) that will be in the White House. Both published that the next step should be a trilateral meeting also involving the president of Russia, (independent), with whom Trump has been gathered in Alaska.
In its publication, Trump said the “It went very well.” The Republican said he participated after a telephone call with Zelensky and several European leaders, and said the goal is to achieve a peace agreement, “And not just a ceasefire, which often does not hold.”
Still on Friday, Trump was interviewed by and classified the meeting with Putin as productive. The US President said he believed the agreement is close, “But Ukraine needs to agree”adding that the Russian President showed openness to move forward. Trump also stated that the conversation was very sincere and that Putin “Want to see the agreement made.”
In an X post, Zelensky confirmed that he had a long conversation with Trump after the American meeting with Putin. The Ukrainian stated that the country is willing to work to achieve peace and valued US strength to develop the situation.
“We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, USA and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that central issues can be discussed at leader level, and that a trilateral format is suitable for this,” published.
Zelensky also stressed the importance that Europeans are involved in all steps to ensure reliable and sustainable security commitments in the long run.
