Governor is quoted to run for presidential election next year, but at the moment he just wants to ‘help who will be the candidate in our right field’
The governor of, (Republicans), said on Monday (18) that he works focused on state management and does not spend time thinking about a candidacy for president of the republic next year. The governor said he will focus on delivering a good job in SP and “help who will come, who will be a candidate in our field” on the right, with regard to the elections of 2026. “Do you know how long I lose to it? Zero. I am extremely focused on the project of São Paulo. Because what worries us is the legacy, what we can leave. That, ”said Tarcisio during an event of Warren Investimentos. “My goal now is to help who will come, who will be a candidate in our field, try to help with a project from Brazil,” he told reporters after the panel.
Tarcisio stressed that thinking about a country project is more important than thinking about a center-right candidacy. “My big goal is to participate in a project that is a winner, a project that transforms this Brazil. The pilot matters little. The project is important,” said the governor of São Paulo.
Speaking of the “mystique” that the governor of Sao Paulo is always an presidential, Tarcisio recalled that the last politician who became president after occupying the post was Jânio Quadros, in the early 1960s. “This business of governor is not of God, no,” he joked.
Tarcísio says he is ‘optimistic’ about
Tarcisio also said that the government of São Paulo continues to study any new measures to contain effects in sectors affected by the tariff. “But more than that, we continue to make contact there (us), we keep trying to talk to someone, to sensitize someone. I really work.”
The big concern, he said, is that he loses markets relevant to companies that employ many people because of the tariff. “Now, I’m optimistic. Always optimistic. So, I think we’ll be able to solve at some point,” he said.
BUDGET DISPOSAL
During the event, Tarcísio defended a budget and tax benefit deindexation agenda, together with administrative reform, based on meritocracy, and concession and privatization programs.
“If I spend a lot, I am compromising the next generations. We are talking about increased tax, attacking productivity and not growing,” said Tarcisio, in a critique of federal government fiscal policy.
