Eduardo criticizes Dino’s decision and again threatens with more sanctions from Trump

Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) said on Monday (18) that Minister Flávio Dino of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) tried to block the effects of the US law, applied by the United States against Alexandre de Moraes, through a “cannaded”.

The statement was made in a post on the parliamentarian’s social networks, which has been in the US since the beginning of the year articulating international support for the defense of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), defendant at the STF for attempted coup.

According to Eduardo, Dino’s decision – would be an affront to American sovereignty and international logic. “It’s like trying to revoke the law of gravity with any court decision. The result? Chaos,” said the deputy, in a provocative tone.

Decision as a Shield

Although Flávio Dino’s decision does not nominally mention Alexandre de Moraes nor Magnitsky’s law, Supreme Ministers interpreted the measure as an institutional reaction to, including freezing goods, prohibition of US entry, and blocking transactions with US companies.

The norm was used by the Trump government to punish Moraes, on the grounds that the magistrate would be politically chasing former President Jair Bolsonaro and violating fundamental rights.

The retaliation was articulated with direct participation by Eduardo Bolsonaro, who has acted behind the scenes to stimulate sanctions against Brazilian authorities, especially STF ministers.

Pressure for impeachment and amnesty

In the publication, the deputy also aims at the financial market, accusing his representatives of “giving a thick view” to the Supreme Decisions. Criticism occurs amid the speculation that Brazilian banking institutions evaluate alternatives to protect ministers from any side effects from American sanctions – such as the end of US punishment fear.

Eduardo reinforced the condition imposed by the Bolsonaro family to interrupt the diplomatic offensive: the approval, in Congress, the impeachment of Alexandre de Moraes and the amnesty those involved in the scammers of January 8.

Signs of new sanctions

At the end of the message, the deputy again suggested that the Donald Trump government could expand sanctions against Brazilian authorities if the Supreme Court keeps the trial against its father.

Behind the scenes, republican allies have signaled that more ministers may be included in the list of sanctions of the magnitsky law if they support decisions considered “authoritarian” by the US.

Dino’s decision, by affirming the Brazilian legal sovereignty, was read as an attempt to contain the practical effects of the American offensive, but also intensified criticism of Trump’s pockets and allies.
