Libertadores in numbers: Brazil touches Argentina in title leadership

After the victory over Atlético-MG in the Libertadores final this Saturday afternoon, at the Monumental de Nuñez, Botafogo won its first title in the competition. This was the first time that the Rio team reached the final. Now the team is equal to two other teams from Rio de Janeiro, Fluminense and Vasco, who were also champions once in the tournament

With the title, Brazil now has 24 trophies in the competition, one less than Argentina, which has 25 cups. This is the sixth time in a row that a Brazilian team has won the Libertadores. In 2019 and 2022 Flamengo won the championship, in 2020 and 2021 it was Palmeiras and in 2023 Fluminense was the champion. The victory of Botafogo reinforces Brazilian hegemony in the competition.
