Armed Arm of Hamas claims Tuesday's attack in Jerusalem

Claim appears on the day Israel orchestrated attack in Doha, Qatar, against Hamas leaders

The armed arm of the Palestinian Islamite Movement Hamas, the al-Qasam brigades, claimed this Tuesday the authorship of Monday’s attack in Jerusalem that killed six people.

In a widespread message on their communication channels, the group said the attack shows that all “failed attempts to dry the sources of resistance” by Israel will only result in “bloodshed” by soldiers and “criminal settlers.”

According to Al-Qasam’s brigades, Israel’s attempts to create a “dissuasive state” through collective punishment are not working.

“These miserable attempts will only serve as a fly for a general explosion,” the group warned.

Monday’s attack, in which two occupied West Bank Palestinians opened fire on a bus stop, took place near two Israeli colonates in East Jerusalem, part of the city officially attached in 1980 by the Israeli authorities, in a decision not recognized by the UN.

The two strikers were slaughtered by a soldier out of service and an armed civilian.

Following the attack, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated that he had ordered the “total closure” of the city from which the two attackers came from.

On Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that he will revoke the work permits of residents of the zone from which the two Palestinians came and demolish the “illegal” buildings by Israel.

The Israelite army announced on the day of the attack the sending of soldiers to the attack zone and also to the outskirts of the capital of the West Bank, Ramallah, “to combat terrorism.”

Katz also said on Monday that Israelite security forces will act “everywhere against terrorism” and stressed that the attack will have “extremely serious and long-range consequences.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stressed that the country is “in a huge war against terrorism on all fronts” and also promised a response from security forces to attack.
