7.1 magnitude earthquake reaches the east coast of Russia

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit the east coast of the Russian region of Kamchatka this Saturday (13/9). According to the German Geoscience Research Center (GFZ, acronym in German), the shake occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Already the (USGS) estimated the magnitude by 7.4, with a depth of 39.5 km.

(TWS) reported that there was a threat of a possible tsunami due to the earthquake.

In Japan, southwest of the Kamchatka peninsula, no tidal alert was issued, RNZ news network said.

Kamchatka has been the same region of a tremor for a month. In August, it reached 8.8, one of the strongest recorded in modern seismic equipment.
