Donald Trump: Appoints adviser on the Middle East his counterpart

US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he will appoint his fellow Lebanese-American businessman Mashad Boulos as Middle East adviser to the US presidency.

“Massad is a good negotiator and a staunch supporter of PEACE in the Middle East. He will be a staunch defender of the US and its interests,” Trump said, as the Middle East flares up as the Israel/Hamas war rages on for more than a year.

A longtime Republican, Boulos built his fortune selling cars in Nigeria. The 2022 wedding of Michael Boulos’ son to one of Donald Trump’s daughters, Tiffany, has put Mashad Boulos in the inner circle of the billionaire president-elect.

He was actively involved in the presidential campaign, trying to convince the Arab community in some crucial American states to vote for Trump.

“Massad is an accomplished lawyer and a highly respected leader in the business world, with extensive experience on the international stage,” Trump said.

A Maronite Christian, Boulos had tried to be elected to parliament in Lebanon, without success.

During the campaign, Trump repeatedly said he would end the war between Israel and Hamas, without ever revealing a plan to do so.

The announcement of Boulou’s appointment comes days after a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Last Saturday, Donald Trump appointed another of his friends, Charles Kushner, United States ambassador to France.

A controversial choice for diplomatic duties: Charles Kushner spent a year in federal prison for tax evasion before being pardoned by Trump toward the end of his first term in the White House.
