In 2022, Intel launched dedicated graphics cards for the consumer market for the first time with the Arc Alchemist series, on the one hand to promote the development of its own technology in this area and, on the other hand, to counteract the de facto duopoly of Nvidia and AMD in this area. However, the start was – to put it nicely – bumpy. The hardware, which experts viewed as quite capable, was plagued by unfinished drivers and the resulting performance and compatibility problems, which quickly caused the hype surrounding the new “third player” on the market to die down.
