Flamengo x Estudiantes: Director attacks arbitration and promises measure

Flamengo beat Estudiantes-ARG 2-1, this Thursday (18) for the quarterfinals of Libertadores, but the club was very dissatisfied with the arbitration in the match in Maracanã.

director José Boto classified the decisions of referee Andrés Rojas (Col) as “shame” and “scandal”, and promised that the club will take action.

“What happened here is a shame, a scandal. Just look at the images. It turns a penalty in our favor in expulsion from the platform. We lost the platform for the second game. The goal bid, the ball hits the player of Estudiantes. One team, once again, who has the ball, has more cards than the other team.

“At the very least, shameful for the largest competition in South America. We will officially position ourselves about it. What happened here is inadmissible in a competition of this dimension. It is a shame, a scandal, not to say more than that,” added the director.

The confrontation situation

The decisive confrontation between Flamengo and Estudiantes will be at Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium in La Plata next Thursday (18). The ball rolls at 9:30 pm (Brasília).

Filipe Luís team guarantees the classification for the Cup semifinal with a draw.

The Argentine team needs to return the scoring to force the penalty shootout. A more elastic victory, from two goals difference, guarantees the vacancy.

Those who move forward will have another opponent Argentine in the semifinal: the racing is in advantage after beating Vélez 1-0 away from home. The return is on Tuesday (23).
