Minister Edson Fachin of the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) found Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican on Saturday (20), a few days before taking office as president of the Supreme Court.
The Pope gathered representatives of associations from different countries linked to law to celebrate the jubilee of the court operators.
In a speech in St. Peter’s Square, the Catholic leader spoke about justice precepts, guaranteeing rights and, recalling St. Augustine, highlighted the importance of justice for the conduct of states.
“As is well known, justice materializes when it turns to others, when each one is given what is due to it, until it reaches equality in dignity and opportunities,” said the Pontiff. But he pondered, “true equality, is the possibility given to everyone to perform their aspirations and see the rights inherent in their dignity guaranteed by a system of common and shared values, capable of inspiring norms and laws on which the functioning of institutions is based.”
In addition to meeting the Pope, Fachin’s schedule also includes a preaching of the archbishop Juan Ignacio Arrieta On the theme “The Operator of Justice, instrument of hope”.
The trip was articulated with the CNBB (National Confederation of Bishops of Brazil). Tickets and hosts will be funded by the minister.
