Shock before the beginning of the astronomical autumn: SHMI recorded an extraordinary phenomenon in Slovakia!

The temperature in the southwest on Saturday (20 September) reached 30 degrees Celsius, which we refer to as a tropical day. On Sunday it is still a little warmer and the tropical day has already been recorded in several places of the southwest of Slovakia. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) informed about it on the social network.

According to meteorologists, it is also very warm in other territory. The summer day (25 degrees Celsius or more) also records in the extreme north of Orava and Spiš. However, they explained that tropical days (in the extreme north of the summer days) in the last decade of September there are rarely, some stations are already recording record high values. “This is an extraordinary phenomenon,” added SHMI.

On Monday 22 September at 8 pm and 19 minutes of Central European summer time (CEST), the autumn equinox will occur. The whole northern hemisphere, including in Slovakia, will begin astronomical autumn. Astronomical autumn will last until Sunday, December 21, when at 16.03. Central European time (CET) will occur winter solstice, ie astronomical winter will begin. The meteorological autumn began on 1 September and lasts until 30 November.
