There is no reason for North Korea to avoid dialogue with the US if Washington stops insisting to give up nuclear weapons. According to Monday’s report of the KCNA State Press Agency, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said it at the weekend meeting of the Supreme People’s Assembly (Parliament). TASR informs about this, referring to Johnap.
DPRK: Getting nuclear weapons to protect your safety is a question of survival for us
“If the United States stops the absurd obsession with denuclearization and strive for peaceful coexistence with North Korea by recognition of reality, there is no reason not to sit behind the table,” Kim Jong-una Kcna quoted.
According to him, the acquisition of nuclear weapons is for the DPRK to protect its safety due to the serious threats by the US and South Korea with the question of survival. Recent Washington and Seoul offers for dialogue refused as insincere, because their basic intention – weaken North Korea and overthrow her government – remains unchanged.
Kim Jong-un: sanctions or muscle tensioning enemies cannot get us under pressure
Kim Jong-un also said that he still retains “pleasant memories” of US President Donald Trump, whom he met three times during his term. At the same time, however, he stressed that North Korea would not give up nuclear weapons.
“It would be wrong if the enemies thought they could beat or put us under pressure by sanctions or muscle stretching,” the North Korean leader said.
On the margo of relations with South Korea, Kim Jong-un said he would never sit behind the table with Seoul and Pyongyang will never try to unite with South Korea.
Kim Jong-un unification was unnecessary and also rejected a plan of denuclearization
“We will never unite with the country that entrusted its policy and defense of the foreign power,” said the North Korean leader. He described the unification of both Korea as “unnecessary”.
He also rejected the three-stage plan of denuclearization of North Korea, submitted by South Korean President and Če-Mong, who he believes is only a copy of his predecessors’ proposals. The first phase counts on the freezing of the DPRK nuclear and missile program.
South Korean President and MJong, who has been in office since June, claims that the dialogue with Pyongyang is necessary, suggesting steps to build trust. In an interview with Reuters published on Monday, he said there are considerable obstacles to preventing the re -opening of the dialogue with the DPRK, but still believes that gradual denuclearization is a realistic option.
