Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski On Monday, Russia warned against the consequences of further disturbance of Poland’s airspace. He said this in a speech at an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, convened in connection with the recent disturbance of the Estonian airspace of three Russian fighters.
“I have only one application for the Russian government: If another rocket or aircraft enters our airspace without permission, deliberately or mistake, they will be shot down and the debris will fall into the NATO territory. Please do not complain then,” He declared Sikorski and, looking at the Russian delegation, stressed: “You were warned.”
In his contribution, the head of Polish diplomacy to Russia said: “We know that you are ignoring international law and you are not able to live in peace with your neighbors. Your crazy nationalism includes a desire for domination, which you keep realizing that the empire times have ended.”
Finally, Sikorski recalled the share of Moscow in the unleashing of several conflicts, including the First and Second World War and appealed to the Kremlin not to induce further world scope conflict. As PAP recalled, the extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council was convened at the request of Estonia after three Russian MiG-31 fighters entered its airspace last Friday. The incident happened in the area of the island of Vainloo in the Gulf of Finland.
The Russian Defense Ministry denied that the Estonian airspace would be disrupted – claiming that Russian aircraft remained over neutral waters. According to PAP and numerous experts and politicians, however, it was another military invasion of Moscow into NATO airspace in the last few weeks: In mid -September, several Russian drones flew into the area above Poland and a few days later Romania reported on the disruption of its airspace by the Russian drone.
