Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) granted 15 days for the federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) and blogger Paulo Figueiredo Filho to present defense before (PGR) for coercion in court proceedings.
According to the prosecution, both articulated actions in the United States to expand sanctions against Brazil and the STF ministers. The goal, according to the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, would be to interfere with criminal proceedings in order to benefit former President Jair Bolsonaro, and Figueiredo himself.
The complaint maintains that Eduardo Bolsonaro and Figueiredo threatened Brazilian authorities by suggesting that they would seek support from US authorities to apply sanctions capable of “ruining their civil lives” if there was no acquittal or amnesty in favor of Bolsonaro.

For the PGR, the conduct configures the crime of coercion, which provides for a penalty of one to four years in prison, as well as a fine.
Gonet classified the threats as “unequivocal and consistent” and stated that the two “endeavored reiterated in submitting the interests of the Republic and the entire community to their own personal and family designs.”
The Attorney General also pointed out that attempts aimed to “establish a climate of instability and fear, projecting on Brazilian authorities the perspective of foreign reprisals and about the population the spectrum of an isolated and scowled country”.

This is the second judicial front that involves Paulo Figueiredo in the STF. He had already been accused in February in the coup plot, but the analysis of his complaint was postponed because he lives in the United States, which made notification difficult.
In videos published on his social networks, Figueiredo even commented on the accusation, which led Moraes to consider that he had “full knowledge” of the process.
