The president of Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB)defended on Tuesday (23) the “debate, convincing and democracy” during event celebrations to the bicentennial of the Legislative House. According to him, “beware of the present” should not rule out the “conscience” of history.
The statement was made after demonstrations on Sunday (21) that criticized the amnesty and call project, which advanced in the House. On Monday (22), the president of the house stated that the acts showed that democracy follows “alive”.
“Analyzing the past does not necessarily give us answers to the present, because the world changes, and with it our ways. But the history of the House of Representatives allows us to see that, whatever the choices before us, we follow better for debate, convincing and democracy.
This is the purpose of the celebrations of this bicentennial, “Hugo said in a speech at Tuesday’s event.
According to Hugo Motta, looking at the past allows you to better think of future decisions. In the speech, the mayor did not talk about guidelines under analysis in the house.
“Care for the present does not move away from the conscience of our history. It is looking at the last two centuries that we can best think about what we want for the coming years. We have written every day the history of Brazil, which will be remembered in one hundred, two hundred, three hundred years. We always have the wisdom to make the best choices,” he said.
