Former Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal denounced on Tuesday that his image and voice were tampered with fake videos generated by artificial intelligence in misleading advertisements on the internet.
“My team and I detected that they are circulating on some platforms false videos generated by artificial intelligence, in which a figure appears imitating my image and voice,” Nadal said in a statement published on his social networks.
“These videos attribute to me advice and investment proposals that are not mine. This is misleading advertising,” continued the former tennis player.
Nadal, who emphasized that this pronouncement was unusual on his social networks, but “necessary”, asked his followers to be careful: “I did not do this type of message.”
Winner of 22 Grand Slams and biggest champion of history in Roland Garros (14 titles), Rafael Nadal announced his tennis retirement in October last year.
