Ara and Quarteira Board join in October to celebrate the animal's day

The Parish Council of Quarteira and the Animal Rescue Algarve Association (ARA) announced a special program to mark International Animal Day, celebrated on October 4, in Quarteira. According to the Parish Council, it is “an entire month dedicated to sensitization and animal welfare”, involving visits, exhibitions and activities open to the community.

One of this year’s news is the possibility of visiting ARA facilities on October 2, between 9:45 and 12:15. Vacancies are limited and registration is open until September 29 at the Parish Council of Quarteira.

On International Animal Day, on October 4, Praça do Mar will be the scene of the celebrations, which include the presence of animals for adoption and various free admission activities. The program starts at 10:00 with the performance of Catarina Santos and her Super Dog Show. Half an hour later the traditional “Cãominhada” is held, which this year will continue to Largo da Givota. On the way out to Praça do Mar, there will be a draw of care and animal welfare prizes at 12:30.

The Parish Council and ARA also appeal to the solidarity participation of visitors, suggesting the delivery of food goods to cats, which will reverse in favor of Vila dos Gatos and Project 7 Vidas.

Throughout October, the exhibition “Waiting for a Home”, by photographer Carlos Filipe, with images of dogs and cats available for adoption accompanied by their stories, will be evident at the Quarteira.

It points out that “this is an opportunity to reinforce the community’s connection to the causes of animal protection” and recalls that the celebration has the support of the Loulé City Council.
