These rates will come into force on October 1
Donald Trump, announced this Thursday the imposition of tariffs on imports from various products from any country, including a 100% tariff on all brand or patented pharmaceuticals.
“From October 1, 2025, we will apply a 100% rate to any brand or patented pharmaceutical product unless a company is building its pharmaceutical factory in the United States,” the United States President Truth platform has said.
In the same message, Trump pointed out that, by the expression “is building”, one must understand “start of works and/or under construction”, adding that “no tariff will be applied to these pharmaceutical products if the construction has already started.”
Shortly before, Trump used the same social network to announce a 25% rate on “heavy and large” trucks made in any country, a decision that justified with the need to “protect” US manufacturers from these “unfair external competition” products and the good “financial health” of their truckers.
In the same message, the head of state has ensured that companies such as “Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Mack Trucks and others will be protected from the avalanche of external interruptions.”
Trump also reported that he will apply an additional 50% rate to “all kitchen furniture, bathrooms and related products” and a 30% rate to “upholstered furniture”, recognizing that “it is a very unfair practice, but we must protect, for national security reasons and others, our manufacturing process.”
