Gala in Vilamoura marks World Tourism Day and 55 years of RTA

The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) celebrated last Saturday, September 27, World Tourism Day and the closure of the celebrations of its 55th anniversary in a gala held at the Vilamoura Casino, which brought together more than two hundred guests, among representatives of the sector, mayors, businessmen, former leaders and institutional partners.

The night, conducted by the president of Algarve Tourism, André Gomes, was marked by moments of tribute and public recognition and provided tribute to all who have contributed to affirm the Algarve as a tourist destination of excellence.

During the ceremony, the Tourism Medals of the Algarve Tourism Region were awarded, the highest distinctions of the regional sector, created in 2003 to distinguish personalities and entities that stood out in the appreciation and projection of destination.

These are divided into the tourist merit and the gold medal of tourism, reflecting, according to RTA, “the commitment to highlight trajectories of excellence that contributed to affirming the Algarve as a reference destination”.
