More Madrid has registered in the Contentious-Administrative Court number 27 of Madrid a lawsuit in which it claims the cancellation of the license that supports the celebration of the Formula 1 Grand Prize of Madrid, which will be held every September in the capital between 2026 and 2035. The letter, which the country accessed, replicates the arguments against the event that already collected the previous appeal signed by the party. Namely: that a Grand Prix that will be held annually every ten years cannot operate with a temporary license, since it is a permanent appointment; that the public information process was insufficient, because the documentation was incomplete; That the project must have undergone a more demanding environmental evaluation, since it will have an important acoustic impact on the neighborhood and will affect 700 trees; and that the construction of the circuit will “illegally” the livestock “Vereda de los Leñeros” path.
“The Formula 1 circuit of Almeida and Ayuso is a nonsense from head to toe and, in our opinion, a complete illegality,” says Councilor Eduardo Fernández Rubiño. “We talk about an elitist event, designed for people who have a lot of money and for great fortunes,” he continues. “From the beginning here, the alleged economic benefits in the face of irreparable environmental damages and the health of thousands of people have priority to the principle. And it finishes: “Ayuso and Almeida follow the wake of Valencia that ended like a black -free black debt well.”
The judicial pulse for the F1 in Madrid does not cease. On the one hand, the Consistory won the first chapter of the clash when the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) rejected the request for more Madrid to suspend the special plan approved by the City Council to facilitate the celebration of the F-1 Grand Prix in the capital of Spain. They are now joined by the lawsuit against the granting of the license, which was registered electronically on September 28.
The Madrid circuit, promoted in Valdebebas (Hortaleza district) by IFEMA, where the City Council, the Community and the Chamber of Commerce will participate, will be hybrid. That is due to the fact that it will pass by IFEMA, but it will also occupy more than a kilometer of the streets that use the neighbors and drivers of passage through the area. Therefore, it must be assembled and disassembled in each of the ten editions agreed until 2035. For more Madrid there is no better example that the license should not have been processed as temporary, but as permanent, that knowing that 10 temporary licenses will have to be processed, one for each Grand Prix to be held until 2035.
To this is joined by the claim against the processing of the public information phase of the project, in which more Madrid understands that “the interested parties were submitted to submit allegations because while they were substantiated, reports on the Grand Prix (up to fifteen) were continued to register (up to fifteen)“ that they were alerting about numerous deficiencies and omissions in the documentation presented by IFEMA ”. In parallel, “during this period the promoter provided documentation up to three different occasions,” according to more Madrid.
In addition, the party led by Mónica García, Manuela Bergerot and Rita Maestre puts in the target the environmental impacts of the arrival of the F1 to the capital, which for more Madrid merit a complete and exhaustive processing of the Environmental Impact Declaration. Among them are acoustic pollution, which will lead to promptly exceed the allowed noise levels, affecting hundreds of neighbors, the condition to the trees, with the felling or transfer of 700 copies; or the works in a livestock route (more Madrid understands that the procedure to modify its layout has not been carried out correctly).
Therefore, more Madrid requests that “the Resolution of the General Directorate of Building, of the area of Government of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility of the City of Madrid (…) be declared not in accordance with the Law of the Madrid City Council (…) by which the Autonomous Parties License is granted to the Fair Institution of Madrid (IFEMA) authorizing the construction of the circuit and complementary facilities necessary for the implementation and development of the celebration of the Grand Prize of Formula 1 Madrid, and in its virtue Cancellation of the license, with all the legal purposes inherent to such statements. ”
