After surviving 21 metastases, Alexander Marcellus talks about the importance of real food, including to overcome the disease
Much is said about the habits that may favor the appearance of tumors, but it is necessary to echo another warning that is necessary: ultra -processed foods can make cancer treatment difficult. Yes, this type of diet should be avoided by those who do and radiotherapy because it can promote inflammation, increase in nutrient absorption and also aggravate side effects of the entire process.
Alexander Marcellus knows what it is, after all, at 14, faced a pancreas tumor without even knowing it was. “Only ten years later, in the third year of the Unesp Faculty of Botucatu, I received the royal and devastating diagnosis: that tumor was evil and had become 21 metastases in the liver,” he recalls, thrilled. According to the nutritionist, the news was a shock because, according to the doctors of the time, the tumor was gone, but the metastases continued there. The experience of surviving this extreme scenario has transformed not only his personal life but also his career.
Today, at the age of 47 and the father of two, he plays the role of health professional and makes his history an example, as he learned how correct feeding during cancer treatment can be decisive to reach victory. “The Ministry of Health, as well as other regulatory bodies, recommend to avoid ultra -processed during cancer treatment. It is necessary to make aware that real food is needed and essential and that food choices can directly influence the health of cancer patients,” he points out.
Ultra -processed: villains hidden in the routine
Healed, happy and now, more certain than ever about his life purpose, Alexander Marcellus is categorical: “There is no healthy ultra -processed for cancer. Foods full of additives, preservatives, refined oils, dyes and excess sugar increase inflammatory processes, compromise the immune system and raise the risk of new tumors.”
According to him, the basis of food must be the so -called “real food,” which is much simpler than you think. “The correct thing is to invest in fruits, vegetables, vegetables, meats, eggs, grains and simple preparations. It is no use filling the ultra -processed cart and believing that a green juice or a supplement capsule will balance. This is an illusion that can be expensive,” he warns.
Based on years of clinical experience and studies, the nutritionist lists the main mistakes that surround cancer patients and makes this sequence a maximum warning. Alexander Marcellus points out that the correct food can be decisive and everyone needs to be aware of it. “It is obvious that the correct diet does not replace medical treatment, but it is a junction of strength to what is being used in the body to combat the advancement of the disease.”
His personal history, from whom he survived 21 metastases, brings legitimacy to the warning. “The cancer patient needs to understand that reliable information saves lives. The right food strengthens. The ultra -processed weakens and the formula is simple and direct, with no chance to make mistakes or sin for not knowing.”
According to the expert, all care is little. “Turmeric in capsules and teas such as blackberry, purple ipe, São Caetano melon and pomegranate can interfere with treatment and even favor the progression of the disease. Supplements without guidance can reduce the effectiveness of medicines, overload organs and stimulate tumors,” he teaches. And it adds: “There is no evidence that red meat, chicken, fish or eggs cause cancer. On the contrary, they are allies in maintaining immunity and muscle mass during treatment. Also gluten and milk do not cause cancer, but their consumption should be individualized according to professional orientation,” he concludes.
