Preliminary understanding between Poland and NATO on the construction of the pipeline from Germany to Bydhoste will strengthen energy infrastructure and strategic cooperation in the region.
Poland signed a preliminary understanding of cooperation in the expansion of its fuel infrastructure in order to connect it to the NATO oil system. It is to be built 300 kilometers of pipes from the border with Germany to the city Bydhošť. According to the Ministry of Defense, the project worth 200 billion zloty (EUR 46.99 billion) is of fundamental importance for strengthening the country’s energy and defense security and its importance compared to obtaining the latest generation fighters. Implementation is intended to increase the resistance of Poland to possible fuel crises and at the same time consolidate its position as a strategic partner of the North Atlantic Alliance in the region.
The investment includes the development of transmission and storage infrastructure of oil products. The Defense Ministry stressed that this step will contribute to the increase in the mobility of troops and the effectiveness of NATO operations. The signature of the agreement took place in Warsaw and was accompanied by an official ceremony. The Ministry of Defense said this is another step in strengthening the interoperability and abilities of the Armed Forces of the Alliance Member States.
