The report published this Friday, prepared by 45 network operators and regulators specialists from 12 countriesclassifies the incident as “scale 3” – the most serious level provided for by European legislation – and describes it as “the most significant in the European electrical system in more than 20 years,” affecting millions of citizens and causing serious disturbances in essential services.

According to the analysis of (ENTS-E in the acronym), the fault sequence started at 12:32 (time of Brussels), when several solar and wind power plants in southern Spain suddenly shut down from the networkfollowed by additional losses in regions such as Granada, Badajoz, Seville and Cáceres.

The report notes that the analyzes performed by the regional coordination centers on the eve of the incident had not identified significant risks.
