According to US President Donald Trump, Israel and the Islamist Hamas have agreed to the first phase of his peace plan. “This means that all hostages will be released very soon and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line as the first step toward a strong, lasting and everlasting peace,” Trump said on Truth Social on Wednesday (local time). Israel and Hamas had indirectly negotiated the peace plan in Egypt.
