The president (PT) signed this Wednesday (15) the retirement of the minister, 67, of the (Supreme Federal Court). He will officially leave the court this Saturday (18).
The retirement was published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union, providing for retirement from October 18, 2025.
Barroso could stay in office until 2033, when he would turn 75 and have to retire. When announcing his departure last week, he said he would leave to live “a little more of the life” he has left. “Without public exposure, the obligations and demands of the position. With more spirituality, literature and poetry”, he said.
At the moment, there is an expectation that Lula will nominate Attorney General of the Union for the position, but the gavel has not yet been struck by the president.
