Louvre robbery: Two suspects arrested for jewelry theft

Police have arrested suspects as part of the investigation into the theft of millions of dollars worth of jewelry from the Louvre Museum in France, the Paris prosecutor’s office said.

Laure Beccuau, the Paris prosecutor, said that “one of them was preparing to leave the territory from Roissy airport”, also known as Charles de Gaulle airport, a facility near the capital.

French media have reported that two suspects were arrested and placed in custody on Saturday night (25), at around 10pm local time.

One of the men was preparing to board a flight to Algeria, according to BFMTV, an affiliate of CNNciting sources familiar with the matter.

The suspects are around 30 years old and were already known to the police, according to BFMTV.
