Candles from autumn fruits: How to use rosehips, cones and pumpkin seeds

Autumn days beckon to create cozy things at home, and nature offers a lot of materials that would otherwise end up in the trash. You can turn arrows, cones, pumpkin seeds or walnut shells into original candles that will light up the interior, warm the soul and bring the scent of autumn right into your home.

What you will need

  • rosehips, small pine cones, pumpkin seeds, nut shells or small fruits
  • candle wax (natural or paraffin)
  • candle wicks
  • glass cups or small molds
  • water bath pot and spoon
  • scented oils

How to do it step by step

  1. Fruit preparation: Clean the arrows and cones of dirt and let them dry well. You can leave the pumpkin seeds in the pods or split them open and use just the seeds.
  2. Preparation of molds: Place the wick in the glass cups or small molds and make sure it is in the middle.
  3. Pouring the wax: Melt the wax in a water bath and you can add a few drops of fragrance oil to it. Carefully pour the hot wax into the cups, around the fruits, cones or seeds.
  4. Completion: Allow the wax to harden at room temperature. You can trim the wick to approximately 1 cm above the wax.
  5. Exposure: You can use candles made in this way at home or give them as an original gift. Colorful fruits and seeds give the candles autumn charm and a pleasant warm atmosphere.

Tips and variations

You can also insert small pine cones or rose hips into the wax itself and create it that way which move slightly when burning.

Experiment with combinations of seeds, shells and dried fruits to make each piece unique.

If you want to scent the candle, add a pinch of cinnamon, cloves or orange peel to the wax.
