The atmosphere was of great tension around the Molineux Stadium after yet another defeat for Wolverhampton, their seventh in nine games in the English championship. The fans, fed up with the team’s bad form, demonstrated vehemently and demanded explanations from the players and the technical team.
José Sá, Portuguese international goalkeeper and one of the team’s captains, decided to face the fans and talk directly to them. The moment was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media.
“What can I do? Tell me. How?”, asked the guardian, visibly frustrated, during the exchange of words. Shortly afterwards, he bluntly admitted the team’s bad moment: “We’re playing s—t…”.
The player’s sincerity ended up defusing the initial tension. Despite the heated start, the fans recognized José Sá’s courage and professionalism in showing up at such a delicate moment.
The conversation ended with lots of applause, in a rare example of mutual respect between players and fans even in difficult times.
