According to a Genial/Quaest survey, 70% of Brazilians see the violence and organized crime as a nationwide problem. Another 26% believe that these questions are regional in nature, while 4% did not know or did not want to answer.
The research was released this October, before the joint mega-operation of the Civil and Military police of Rio de Janeiro, carried out on Tuesday (28), in Complexos do Alemão and Penha, which — 115 suspects and 4 police officers, according to the state government.
Still according to the survey, 31% of respondents point to violence as their biggest concern, an increase of three points compared to the survey in the previous month.
Next, social problems appear with 17%, the economy with 16%, corruption with 14%, health with 11%, education with 6% and the fear of war with 3%.
The survey also assessed the perception of the actions of the armed Municipal Guard: 54% of Brazilians believe that the presence of armed guards contributes to reducing crime, while 46% believe that it would not help, and 3% did not know or did not want to respond.
Regarding the actions of the police and the courts, 86% of those interviewed agree with the statement that the police arrest criminals, but the courts release them due to legislation considered weak. Another 11% disagreed with this perception, 1% neither agreed nor disagreed, and 2% did not know or did not want to answer.
