The prices fell 13% between January and September this year in the capital of São Paulo compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the State Department of Public Security. There were almost fewer in this interval.
Considering only September, the reduction in the capital was 9.6% compared to the same month last year. In the State, the decrease reached 15%.
Cell phone theft is among the crimes that cause the most concern among the state’s population, especially if there is a robbery. Cases such as that of cyclist Victor Medrado, murdered in February in front of Parque do Povo, in the capital, generated great repercussions.
For the management (Republicans), the drop is the result of actions such as the use of technology and combating reception and reinforcement of policing, in areas with the highest incidence of crimes.
The recovered devices, as foreseen by the SP Mobile program, have been returned to the victims. Cell phones are identified after crossing information from police reports and data provided by telephone operators.
The Tarcísio administration also states that, since its inception, it has recovered more than 76 thousand cell phones and arrested more than 1,100 criminals.
