João Fonseca after the second round of the Paris Masters 1000, last Wednesday (29).
The young tennis player competed in 20 tournaments throughout the year and collected US$1,705.78 (around R$9.2 million) in prize money.
Fonseca became champion of two ATP level tournaments this season, as well as two challengers. The Brazilian won the ATP 500 in Basel and the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires, in addition to the challengers in Fênix and Canberra.
The biggest award he received was winning the ATP 500 in Basel, earning 471,825.00 euros, around R$2.9 million.
Fonseca also played in all four Grand Slams this year. His best campaign was at Wimbledon and Roland Garros, when he reached the third round. João’s prize pool, adding up all the Majors, was R$3.7 million.
Fonseca chose to end the season at this time to treat low back pain. However, the Brazilian still has an appointment scheduled for December.
He will face Carlos Alcaraz in a friendly match held in Miami.
