In one business near the boarding houses in the Žilina housing estate of Vlčince it happened at the beginning of last week the website writes about the incident, after which a young person had to be hospitalized.
According to a reliable source, the young man was poisoned with methanolwhich he ingested while drinking low-quality alcohol. He ended up in the hospital with health problems and vision problems. Although several students drank the same drinks, others were supposed to mix more types of alcohol.
“We can confirm that we provided medical care to a patient related to methanol poisoning. The patient was released to home care after his condition stabilized,” she explained Zuzana Fialová, spokeswoman for the Faculty Hospital and Polyclinic in Žilina.
Methanol is toxic to humans, but it is used in industrial products such as antifreeze, paint removers, paint thinners and varnishes. People usually get methanol poisoning by consuming improperly produced home-made alcoholic beverages. Methanol poisoning can cause blindness and, in large amounts, even death.
