New warning from the Moscow Kremlin. Vladimir Putin met this Monday with the Foreign Minister of North Korea, Choe Son Huiwith the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries. As recovered by the British newspaperfrom the North Korean press, during the meeting they discussed “many future projects to constantly strengthen and develop” the bilateral relationship.
As the publication says, Sergey Lavrovwhere he made clear his support for “Russian measures to eliminate the root of the conflict with Ukraine.” In return, “Russia supported North Korea’s efforts to protect their security interests and sovereign rights“.
This meeting has taken place amid growing international concerns about collaboration between the two totalitarian regimes. Along these lines, the media recalls that it stopped its war in Ukraine in exchange for military technological assistance from Russia.
According to the data released, Russia and North Korea are “very affected” by European sanctionsand therefore, they have “considerably strengthened their relationship in recent years.” In 2024, they signed a defense agreement in which they pledged to support each other should either nation face “aggression.” Thanks to this important alliance, Pyongyang has sent around 10,000 soldiers to join Russia’s war against Ukraine. At least 600 have died.
The last face to face between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un was on September 3, where the leaders held official talks after a military parade organized by the president of China, Xi Jinping. At the time, Putin praised North Korean soldiers for fighting “bravely and heroically” in the war in Ukraine.
