Just a few hours after the disappearance of a baby in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres), Civil Guard agents have located him on an isolated farm in the Campo Arañuelo region of Extremadura. The armed institute has arrested a couple (a 47-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman) as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of the minor, who was in good health when found. Investigators maintain that the arrested woman stole the child, taking advantage of the fact that the mother had to leave the place where they were both for a moment.
The theft of the baby occurred on the night of October 25, as detailed by the Civil Guard; who, after receiving the alert, activated what was called Operation Recitta. According to the investigations, the mother and the alleged perpetrator of the abduction were together in an establishment in . “At a certain point, the mother had to leave the place momentarily. When she returned to the establishment a short time later, she verified that neither the woman nor her son were there,” emphasize the agents, who attribute the crime of illegal detention to the arrested couple.
“Once the mother tried to contact the woman who had been left to take care of the baby, when she was unable to do so, she immediately reported it to the Local Police,” the armed institute continues in a press release. “This, in turn, informed the Civil Guard, which activated a search device to try to locate both the woman and the minor,” the statement added.
The agents then began to collect information about the minor’s family and social environment. The clues found immediately led to the arrested romantic couple. “The first investigations were complex, since very little data was available about this couple. For this reason, a device was established to locate the baby, finding him on a farm located in an isolated area of the Campo Arañuelo region, where the alleged perpetrators were also located,” says the Civil Guard.
After being located, the agents took the minor to the hospital to undergo a pediatric examination, where doctors confirmed that he was in “perfect health.”
