A lame excuse is not enough: the judgment on Flamengo’s appeal regarding Bruno Henrique’s suspension, for just 12 games, ended up being canceled at the Superior Court of Sports Justice.
The allegation for the postponement is one of atrocious cynicism: insecurity in the city of Rio de Janeiro due to the massacre on Tuesday (28).
But the trial was scheduled for Thursday, and, on Wednesday, Fluminense played against Ceará, at Maracanã, with 12,700 fans present.
In other words, moving a crowd could be done, but nine auditors going to the STJD headquarters, in the center of Rio, on the 10th floor of number 55 Uruguaiana Street, Sloper building, above the Leader department store, cannot be done.
Isn’t it extraordinary?
Let’s recap: Bruno Henrique is not exactly an exemplary citizen. Far from it.
In 2020, he refused to submit to a breathalyzer and presented a false driver’s license.
Prosecuted for ideological falsehood, he confessed to the crime and, in April 2022, entered into an agreement not to prosecute with the courts and paid a fine of R$100,000.
Then, as we know, he forced a yellow card to benefit bettors from his relationships, including his brother.
After a long and dark winter, almost two years, he ended up convicted of sports fraud and received a minimum sentence of 12 games — in itself a privilege that an athlete from a small club would never enjoy or will enjoy.
He took it, but he didn’t fulfill it.
Gávea immediately requested a suspensive effect, and BH parades with impunity on the lawns of Brazil and South America.
When it was expected that, last week, the farce would finally come to an end with the final judgment of the red-and-black appeal, once again the sports court revealed the extent to which it is capable of being cynical and hypocritical: it canceled the trial without a new date scheduled.
If you have any doubts, the final sentence for the BH fraudster will be made when he becomes an exemplary grandfather.
It should be noted that, in addition to awaiting trial for embezzlement in the common courts, BH was also denounced by the Public Ministry of the Federal District for alleged manipulations even in horse racing.
As he plays for Flamengo, he can do anything. And, as he scored two goals in Sport, last Saturday (1st), he can do even more, he is redeemed in the face of the Nation and the complacent and mute media.
It would be the same if he played for any of our other big clubs. Or does Fiel not have the three-dollar bill Marcelinho Carioca as an idol to this day? And how many Santos fans remain fans of Robinho, the rapist?
All this to say that there is an urgent need to put an end to the clowning of sports justice, to implement a summary procedure in matters involving the rules of sport, so that the population does not disbelieve even more in the concepts of justice.
And it’s not like that today.
In 1974, the brilliant Roberto Rivellino kicked the linesman and caught a hook in just five games, the exact time to be able to play in the finals of the Campeonato Paulista, against Palmeiras, a sad memory for Fiel and for him, the object of two injustices: that of the court and, later, of the fans who blamed him for the 20th year in line.
As in common justice in Brazil, whoever has a godfather does not die a pagan.
