The extension of China’s visa-free regime includes Slovakia and other countries. The new rules will boost tourism and remain in force until 2026.
China will extend its unilateral visa-free policy for 45 countries and territories, including Slovakia, France and Germany, until December 31, 2026, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday. The program will now also include Sweden. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report.
The extension, without which visa-free travel for several countries would end at the end of this year, and which takes effect on November 10, covers 32 European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and several South American and Gulf states.
Visitors from the above countries may enter China for business, tourism, family visits or transit for a period not exceeding 30 days without the need for a visa. It follows from the decision of the Chinese government that the length of stay for Slovak citizens, which was set at a maximum of 15 days by last year’s agreement, will also increase to 30 days. The policy is part of Beijing’s efforts to attract foreign visitors, revive the tourism sector, which has suffered due to strict measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and strengthen foreign engagement, Reuters noted.
