Benfica demands "urgent action" over alleged pressure on referee Fábio Veríssimo at FC Porto-SC Braga

The ‘red’ club considers the events serious and damaging to the credibility of Portuguese football, warning that it will not tolerate delays in the investigation and defending the application of exemplary consequences.

Em Clube da Luz highlights the seriousness of the events and argues that a quick reaction from the competent authorities is necessary, as well as a clarification on the developments of this episode, which, in its opinion, damages the credibility of Portuguese football.

Benfica also warns that it will not tolerate any passivity or delays in the investigation, considering it essential that exemplary consequences be applied.

Benfica’s statement:

“Sport Lisboa e Benfica demands that the League, the Arbitration Council and the Disciplinary Council act urgently in light of the information made public about serious coercion against the referee of the FC Porto – SC Braga match.

Given the seriousness of the reported events, a quick reaction from the competent authorities and a clarification regarding the developments of this episode are necessary, which in no way dignifies or gives credibility to Portuguese football, so it is imperative that there are exemplary consequences.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica will not tolerate any passivity or delays in this matter.”
