TSE approves creation of Missão, MBL party – 11/04/2025 – Power

The (Superior Electoral Court) unanimously approved the creation of Missão, a political party linked to the (Movimento Brasil Livre).

With approval, the party will be able to participate in the 2026 elections. The MBL had already obtained a favorable opinion from the MPE (Public Electoral Ministry) in September for the creation of the party. For the body, the party met the necessary requirements — among them, collecting signatures and preparing the party program.

The six ministers followed the rapporteur’s vote, who stated that the acronym obtained the necessary numbers for creation. The MBL obtained more than 589 thousand favorable signatures — the minimum number was 547,042.

When defending the creation of the party, the group’s lawyer cited . “The dream that is dreamed alone is just a dream, but the dream that is dreamed together is reality”, said Arthur Luís Mendonça Rollo. He further stated that the movement started by “young people who at a certain point felt the need to leave their homes to seek better conditions in the country.”

The new party will use the number 14 at the polls and becomes the 34th party in Brazil. The coordinator of the MBL and president of the Missão party, Renan Santos, should be the party’s candidate for the Presidency of the Republic.

Created in 2014, the MBL gained strength amid protests against Dilma Rousseff (PT). At the time, the movement led demonstrations in different capitals calling for the impeachment of the then president. In 2024, 15 councilors and a vice-mayor, members of the group, were elected, as shown by the UOL report.
