Šutaj Eštok at the scene of the train crash near Pezinok: The minister spoke about the number of injured!

There were no casualties when the trains collided on the line between Pezinok and Bratislava. Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) informed about this at the scene of the accident. After the accident, 11 injured people were taken to a hospital in Bratislava, dozens of people were slightly injured. According to the minister, approximately 800 people were traveling in the trains, and both trains were “full of students”. One was headed from eastern Slovakia and the other from Nitra. The minister thanked all the emergency services that intervened.

So far, three patients with serious injuries have been brought to Bory Hospital after an evening train accident near Bratislava. If necessary, the hospital will be ready to receive other wounded as well,” Tomáš Kráľ, spokesman for the Penta Hospitals network, informed TASR.

Injured passengers suffered mainly fractures and bruises. According to the president of the Fire and Rescue Service (HaZZ), Adrián Mifkovič, there may be more injuries, for example in the area of ​​the cervical spine. “Due to the physical phenomenon when the train, or vehicle, stops, these problems may occur tomorrow morning as well,” said the fire chief at a briefing at the scene of the accident. After treatment, the other passengers were transported to Bratislava by fire brigade buses and public transport buses.

Šutaj Eštok explained that more than 60 policemen and 70 firefighters were deployed on the spot. Minister of Justice Boris Susko (Smer-SD) added in the opinion that evacuation buses were also deployed during the accident Corps of Prison and Judicial Guards, who will help take the passengers away from the accident site. “In this way, I would like to express my sincere wish for the speedy recovery of the injured,” said the minister.

According to Mifkovič, firemen from Pezinok, Bratislava and Trnava intervened at the scene, and volunteer firemen from the surrounding area, for example from Sväté Jura, Častej or Pezinok, also helped. Train REX 1814 (from Nitra to Bratislava) collided with train Ex 620 after leaving the Pezinok station. The track and train operating mode is disrupted.
