The Franz Dinghofer dispute

The Dinghofer Symposium, named after the German nationalist politician and lawyer Franz Dinghofer (1873–1956) from Upper Austria, has been taking place in parliament since 2010. When National Council President Walter Rosenkranz (FPÖ) invited people to the event this year, there were sharp protests from many sides. There was strong criticism from the other parliamentary parties and previously from contemporary history research: With the symposium, Parliament would become “a place of honorable remembrance of a declared anti-Semite and National Socialist,” was the criticism in a letter signed by 17 prominent specialist representatives.
