Candidates will face the Natural Sciences and Mathematics tests, which total 90 multiple-choice questions, 45 for each area of knowledge
More than 4.8 million students are registered to participate in the second day of what takes place this Sunday (19). The test is considered the main gateway to higher education in the country. Candidates will face the Natural Sciences and Mathematics tests, which total 90 multiple-choice questions — 45 for each area of knowledge. Gates open at noon and close at 1pm. The race starts promptly at 1:30 pm and runs until 6:30 pm, Brasília time. It is important to arrive early and ensure that all necessary documents are on hand to avoid unforeseen events.
To participate in the exam, candidates must bring:
- Photo identification document – according to Inep, the use of digital documents is authorized, but they must be presented on official government applications or on Gov.br.
- Black ballpoint pen, made of transparent material
- Registration confirmation card – optional
On Sunday (8), the candidates took the first day of tests, which focused on areas of languages and science, and also wrote an essay on the theme “perspectives on aging”. According to the MEC, abstention on the first day was 27%, indicating 0.4% above 2024, but lower than in 2023 and 2022..
Tips for success in Enem
In the final stretch of preparation, some strategies can make all the difference. According to pedagogical coordinator Rodney Brasil Lúzio, switching between subjects during the test can optimize performance. “It is important that the student has a strategy on how to solve the questions. For example, there is no point in asking too many math questions in a row. The ideal is to do 15 math questions, then switch to Natural Sciences and return to mathematics”, explains Lúzio.
He also highlights that, unlike traditional entrance exams, Enem adopts Item Response Theory (IRT), a statistical model that evaluates the coherence of responses. In other words, if the student gets many difficult questions right and easy questions wrong, the system understands that there was a lack of consistency. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates do not waste too much time on the most difficult questions and prioritize the most accessible ones.
For students who want to review the main topics, Lúzio suggests some themes that tend to recur in exams. In Mathematics, questions about ratio, proportion, statistics and plane geometry stand out. In Natural Sciences, it is common to have questions about ecology and biotechnology, in addition to topics such as the greenhouse effect in Chemistry and power in Physics.
Portuguese and Literature teacher, Suelen Martins, reinforces the importance of Enem as the main form of access to higher education in Brazil. “Enem is today the main means of entry into universities, both public and private. Many institutions offer discounts to candidates who perform well in the exam, making access to higher education more democratic”, he states.
Suelen also warns about nutrition on the day of the test: “It is essential to maintain a light diet and avoid foods that may cause discomfort. Candidates cannot compromise their test by making the wrong food choice”, he warns.
