Meta is said to have covered up a study on psychological damage

SAN FRANCISCO – Meta has stopped a study showing evidence of psychological harm from its platforms, according to court documents. In the 2020 research project “Project Mercury,” users who abstained from Facebook and Instagram for a week reported “reduced feelings of depression, anxiety, loneliness, and less social comparison pressure,” the court papers say. Instead of publishing the results, Meta ended the project.
