The Lisbon Metro will operate normally this Tuesday, within the usual hours between 6:30 am and 1:00 am, following the suspension of the partial workers’ strike, the company announced.
The majority of workers at the Metropolitano de Lisboa decided on Monday, in two plenary sessions, to cancellation of the partial strike scheduled for todayafter acceptance of the company’s proposal to satisfy your demands.
Also ongoing strikes for special events and overtime work were also suspended.
In a statement, the explained that “the exploration service will normally be carried out during normal exploration hours, that is, between 06:30 and 01:00”.
“The Administration of the Metropolitano de Lisboa welcomes the outcome of these negotiations and praises the constructive spirit that allowed the conciliation of positions”, it can be read.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, also welcomed “the understanding reached and the suspension of the strike”, reiterating, according to a statement released by his ministry, “his stance of continuity for dialogue with sector unions”.
Monday’s two plenary sessions arose after meetings between the Board of Directors of Metropolitano de Lisboa and the union, which took place on Wednesday and Saturday, and the company’s proposals were presented.
Sara Gligó, da – Federation of Transport and Communications Unions, had previously told Lusa that the company “accepted the payment of so-called variables (overtime and holidays) and the career regulations” for 2023 and 2024, in addition to “payment of final and unappealable decisions relating to variable credit processes, in accordance with the sentences”.
The payment of variables for the year 2023 will be processed in January 2025 and the payment for the year 2024 will be processed in February of the next year, he explained.
Furthermore, the company commits to starting the negotiation process on the Career Regulation in Januaryin accordance with the proposals presented by the company and the trade union associations, in addition to also agreeing to negotiate on remuneration variables prior to the year 2023, with a view to reaching an agreement by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
The company also proposes, according to Fectrans, to change the hours of track inspectors and track officials, adjusting them to applicable regulations and legislation.
Lisbon Metro workers carried out a partial strike on December 4th, with participation at around 90%.
On November 6th and 14th, two partial shutdowns were also implemented, which had around 90% support, according to Fectrans, and which prevented all stations from opening until mid-morning.
Normally, the service runs between 06:30 and 01:00 on the four lines: Yellow (Rato-Odivelas), Green (Telheiras-Cais do Sodré), Blue (Reboleira-Santa Apolónia) and Red (Airport-São Sebastião).
