While monoliths rise up in Stonehenge, this structure goes deeper: Near the famous stone circle, researchers came across trenches five years ago that were apparently also made in the Stone Age. The ring that these shafts form is more than two kilometers in diameter – it could be “the largest prehistoric structure” in Britain, according to archaeologist Vincent Gaffney.
