According to the authors of a new study, if you have a six-year-old child at home, an exceptionally magical time awaits you. It is at this age that children experience Christmas the most intensively. This follows from a survey of two thousand adults, according to which the Christmas magic culminates around the age of six.
Parents perceive the child’s imagination as the most vivid at this stage. According to them, this is the time when children begin to easily invent stories, characters and worlds, which makes Christmas even more magical.
The contagion of Christmas enthusiasm is very strong, eighty-seven percent of parents admitted that thanks to their children’s emotions, they themselves feel in a more festive mood. Parents consider unwrapping presents, singing carols and helping children to wrap presents to be the most beautiful Christmas moments. More than half of the parents admitted that they cried during their children’s Christmas experiences. Seven out of ten said that a child’s imagination reawakens their own sense of the magic of Christmas.
As many as forty-two percent of parents create new family traditions because of this. Almost four out of five then want to pass on the same festive experiences to their children as they themselves had in childhood. The research was commissioned by Samsung, which has just launched its new Christmas advert aimed at children’s imaginations. “This year’s Christmas campaign is a celebration of the joy that limitless imagination can bring to our lives,” said Annika Bizon, vice president of product and marketing for the mobile division.
Samsung also recalled earlier research by scientists from the University of Toledo, according to which children play better when they have fewer toys. Thanks to this, they concentrate on one thing for a longer time and play more creatively. The researchers concluded that fewer toys promotes development and healthy play and improves creativity, imagination and skill development.
