São Paulo’s Procon, linked to the management (), fined R$ 14.26 million this Monday (15) due to the lack of energy in the city.
The agency states that the penalty refers to the company’s repeated attitude of ignoring alerts to improve the service.
“Since the first notification, issued on 23/09/2025, Procon Paulistano found signs of direct infringement of the legal obligation to ensure the continuity and efficiency of the supply of electricity, especially in densely populated urban areas”, says Procon.
Enel has been harshly criticized by the mayor following episodes of power outages caused by weather events, such as the cyclone that occurred last week. Power was only restored at the weekend.
For Procon, “it remains clear that Enel Distribuição did not ensure the adequate, efficient, safe and continuous provision of the essential public service, revealing structural and repeated failures and the ineffectiveness of the contingency plans presented”.
