A beekeeping action avoided an imminent risk to an elderly family living in a house located close to the riverbank, after a large swarm of bees formed on the property. The case drew attention due to the size of the hive and the amount of honey removed from the site, in addition to the complexity of the work carried out.

According to the beekeeper responsible for the removal, he was initially informed informally about the presence of the bees, but only decided to go to the location after being contacted again. The swarm had settled approximately 500 meters from the river bank, a region rich in flowers, a factor that contributed to the accelerated growth of the hive.
After analyzing the situation, he found that the risk was high, especially for the residents of the residence.

An elderly man over 80 years old and his wife, aged approximately 79, live in the property, who were in a vulnerable situation due to the proximity of the swarm. The bees spread out over almost four meters, occupying the front and corner of the house wall. During the work, the beekeeper had the support of the property owner’s son, who helped cut the structure necessary to access the hive.

The operation began around 2pm and was only completed at 11pm. In total, between 50 and 60 liters of honey, described as high quality, were removed. In addition to extracting the honey, the work involved capturing the bees and eliminating the risk to the family. “It was a big job, but thank God everything went well.
The danger was removed”, reported the beekeeper, highlighting the importance of the action to preserve lives and avoid accidents.
